Hello, my friend; come with me, be warm and safe.
What do you think of the ribbons in the hall?
Left behind by the one who came before you;
The one in the many photos on the wall.
It must be so strange not knowing where you are:
To follow one so loved, curl up on his chair
To come from the Welsh Valleys into my home,
Two hundred miles to find yourself in my care.
Your life so far has been confusing for you;
We need to find out what makes the other tick.
To find you a name that suits your "noble" face
And the one you wear when playing with a stick.
You turn heads in town, there's gossip in the park:
Who is this elegant escort by my side?
I make my promise now to earn your respect,
And give you a life the best I can provide.
For sixteen years another gave me comfort;
And now it is your time, there's so much to learn,
Let's look forward to happy years together
We both need a friend and now it is our turn.
