Rich walls, to be taken down
Cold floor
creaks now, in a rhythmic sound
singing the song of years.
What others walked through here?
These soft footplaces
dips and snags in home faces
Was a new mother walking
soothing, rocking
Did her loving call
make the rafters fall
and teach them a love song to sing to me?
I am not young
but this my home is new to me
and we are complete as family
where hearts are sheltered
from life's storms.
Author notes
I am very happy in my new home, even though the building is so very old, and we make it our own with the work we do and the love we live.

Excellent Writing
This is so neat: You make the new house part of the family. Warm and sweet.

heartfelt
this is just how i felt about an old Victorian i lived in back in Virginia when i was first married. the basement tormented me and i refused to go near it. the floors and stairs groaned beneath our feet and the old furnace popped it's joints at the first signs of winter. but, it was ours , paid for and it kept us safe and dry. gee, i could write a poem off that comment....**now thinking....hhmm**
great job!
thanks for the comment and yes, all those things i've really lived thru. -

Thanks for the great comment, I look forward to a link to that poem, I think you should create one from your experiences!
Our home is shaping up but we find something new each day that needs attention. It looks like construction will hold through the holidays to keep me from bleeding money til the new year, lol. We just discovered the chimney is falling apart into the second floor and a new leak in the living room. My basement is bearable, thank God, as my laundry area is down there. Through hard work and love we will have a home to be proud of for years. Thanks again for reading.
