Fairie

A magical creature
This pixie that flew
From twilight, so fleeting,
To morning's bright blue

She came with exu'brance
Beyond time, and place
On wings of pure joy
With the sun on her face

A sprite, full of mischief;
Her deeds full of fun
Her energy level
Was second to none

A smile, quite infectious,
Was always in place
Her sense of adventure
Most eaisly traced

And so now, years later,
I still wonder how
This elfin-like creature
To me was endowed

The angels in Heaven
The answer may hold
Why God deemed it fitting
To lend me pure gold

So many years later
And Heather still shines
And what of those angels...
No doubt, Heaven pines

Forever I'll marvel;
And how could it be
This beautiful fairie
Was sent down to me

    Such a beautiful name lass....Heather...
it brings to mind my fathers home in Belfast...
fields of purple heather all along the pathway to his cottage...

    The angels in Heaven
    The answer may hold
    Why God deemed it fitting
    To lend me pure gold...

    you have two gifts gypsy...
your beautiful Heather and your beautiful soul...
the first stanza...so soft and poetic....
there is stardust here lass...pure magic comes from you in so many ways...
just the correspondents and comments you leave.

    A sprite, full of mischief;
    Her deeds full of fun
    Her energy level
    Was second to none....

Now that really paints a picture of of a healthy happy wee one...
    so much joy here.....
The weary world with all it's sorrow.....
your little ray of sunshine will grow to make this world such a better place...
    your writing moves me deeply...
    every word..
    so effortless...such ease...
you write out of love and it shows in all your work.
    Count those blessings...
one being your gift to create art,
because that is what this is.....
and kiss that child's eye lids tonite before she sleeps...
it is an Irish blessing to do so......
we are so lucky to have you here with all your gifts that you share so unselfishly.

God bless you both little gypsy,
    Liam

Awwww...thank you so much, Liam. But I'm afraid that my "wee lass" is now 28 years old, and has recently given birth to her own wee one. (I'm not sure what name they use in Ireland for a grandma, but whatever it is, I guess that's what you'll have to call me. lol) By the way...we have that in common; my ancestors are from Ireland. I'm not sure where; I've never done research on it, but I have no doubt, they probably came over in the great famine, and were poor as church mice.

My maiden name was Cannon; my dad says it was O'Cannon before they came to the states, so yeah...I'm an Irish girl. (Or granny, rather.)

Thanks so much, Liam, again for your generous praise, and kind comments. I appreciate it so much! Take care, and I"ll be back to your pages soon to read more of your awesome work!

    Bountiful~Beuatiful...

I had many Fairies friends up to ten years old. I still dream of them.

I have enjoyed the reading of "Fairie". Good rhythm and sustainability abound. Lovely poem for kids of all ages.

a good piece, soft and musical, the flow sings the eyes down the poem's beat with a wonderful ease, wing flap feather-light fancy towards smiles and love.

    wow

I'm glad u liked mine but it wasn't that great of a poem...more of a vent that happened to rhyme

THIS on the other hand, is a BEAUTIFUL poem... i know the pain will never go away for u, its such a horrible thing to lose ur kid (I could never imagine cuz ive never even had a kid let alone lossed 1)... but I love how u keep writing about her, and u know what...through ur words, as well as many other means i'm sure... she lives on... this was beautiful
I loved the line "The angels in Heaven
    The answer may hold
    Why God deemed it fitting
    To LEND me pure gold"

...it sucks that God brings together and connects people so deeply that he means to take apart...its all a part of life tho, im not tryna sound wise or anything im only 19...GREAT WRITE

This is such a beautiful tribute to your daughter Heather. I loved the entire poem but the last four stanzas really blew me away. Whenever I think of my daughter...I am constantly in awe that I was lucky enough to be her parent. I believe that any child is a gift from God. I have lost three babies during pregnancy...it was a difficult time...but I have my Nelle...who is such a precious gift that I constantly thank God for. I have always told her from a very young age that God knew that I would only be able to have one child...so he made sure he gave me the very best. I don't think I am worthy of it but nevertheless...I am so thankful that she is my daughter.
You have expressed feelings I have often pondered on...from the miraculous occasion of her birth until now ...as she spreads her wings to fly into her future.
    Bravo Poet!

    Breathtaking

Wow.. I never get teary over poetry... but this made me get a little misty eyed... I guess it wasn't just how beautiful of a description, or how each line flowed with poignancy and grace, or that the subject was fitting... I think it was more than all of that, although, you have written something very special here, I think what touched me the most was that I can relate to this becuase I have a daughter of my own, and she has always reminded me of an angel or a fairy, hence why I use Faerie in my screen name... you have truly captured a very sentimental idea in your work.. wonderfully written as usual, and its good to see ya on again... I was missing you...

to me ,heather is an angel that was born of an angel.some are born with wings and some have to earn theirs.you have earned yours and i like the way you wear them.in your beautiful writings your wings shine of your talent.this is a true joy to read and the sincerity in its reverbrates through and through.the subject is an easy one to write of but no one could have done heather as much justice as you.you are special and you are very special to me.
