Sarah

Such trusting eyes
gaze into mine,
tiny hands
with nails of pearl
grasp tightly
'round my finger.
Nuzzling my breast

with sleepy sighs,
little tufts of downy hair
curl against your cheek.
One last feed
before you drift away
to play with angels
in your dreams.
I look down at you
snuggling into me
and know
with all my heart,
this
is beauty.
It's you
my child...
My precious baby girl

Author notes

My baby girl, Sarah, is now 19 and has grown into a beautiful, outspoken, talented and independent young woman who never fails to bring joy into my life. I am reminded every time I think of her just how precious is the love between a mother and her child.

This is so beautiful. I don't have kids, but I really want to one day. I love babies and I love to hold them and just look at their tiny features, and smell their baby smell. You describe it perfectly. I hope I get to experience that one day!
