The song skips, as does my heart.
I pour my soul to the first person
Who decides to respond to my messages.
My foot taps to the up-beat tempo as my heart sinks.
I'm thinking of the coming weeks,
The expectations that have to be floating through your mind.
You probably think I'm something I'm not,
Never having seen my face,
It's going to be quite a shock.
A firework explodes outside my window,
The dog stirs on the floor,
But with my headphones on I hear faint whispers,
Vibrations, nothing more.
The song speaks with vintage sound,
While my mind aches with new conflicts,
I try to just imagine your face,
And all I get is just a glimpse.
The song repeats for the third time,
the tempo tiring, the lyrics taunting.
The lyrics end as I change the song,
A new playlist a new change of pace.
I look out the window for some kind of miracle,
Inspiriation, a sign, or something of the kind.
I'm missing you and for some reason this makes me smile,
Knowing you're thousand of miles away
And somehow I've got you,
You're mine.
My lips mouth along to the song,
The lyrics much too true.
The pop of cracking knuckles echoes
As I don't know what to do.
The mood dampens with a new song,
And it's reminding me of you once again.
A car engine is stalling down the street,
While I try to start-up this relationship.
The lyrics repeat;
"Can it be you? Can it be you?"
And I'm thinking,
Yes,
Maybe it could.
Author notes
This, once again is about my boyfriend, who is miles away.

This is so wonderfully written.
Upbeat and nice flow, love the way you have played out the thoughts racing in your mind of someone you think of a thousand miles away. Reminds me of a Jackson Browne song..."Stay" really don't know why as the song pertains to nothing you have written about...still it enters my mind as I read this. Great job here poet.
Best of luck to you

Most wonderfully and beautifully done
I love the way this is written! There are a lot of songs on the radio that remind me of someone special
Thank you for sharing and for being a part of the contest!
