Candles In The Snow
The highway was slippery and wet on that wintry night.
Wipers slapping, covered with ice and snow.
The big ole semi was a movin’ slow.
Trying to move ahead of that ole blizzard of ’78.
Tail-lights ahead weaving all over the place.
The CB a hummin’ and a cracklin’.........
Hey! Big Daddy you out there?
I’m here Rabbit Ears
Can’t see a thing with the wind and ice
Got to keep movin’
Cause my baby is a comin’ tonight.
Talk to you later Rabbit Ears
Ten four Big Daddy.
Big ole ditches aside the road.
Cars and trucks a spinin’ out of control.
Sirens screamin’, red lights a flashin’.
Off the highway onto a country road.
Big Daddy and that big ole semi a movin’ on slow.
The snow deep, the wind a howlin’.
How will Big Daddy find his way home?
No path, no light ..........
Only the blinding snow and icy sleet.
As the wind shakes man and machine-
Big Daddy trembles in fear.
Ahead he sees flickering lights.
Candles of blue come into view
Their beacon of hope, flaming, on this hellish night.
That big ole semi comin’ to a grueling stop.
In the doorway with its brilliant light-
Stands a woman and a new babe born.
Big Daddy turns and gazes down the highway
To his surprise no light is seen
Only darkness fills the freezing rain.
Futher down the highway-
A big ole semi is a movin’ on slow.
Ahead in the darkness of freezing rain
He sees flickering lights
He stares in disbelief
For on this deadly night is the glow
of
Candles In The Snow.
