The rain is pouring, falling outside,
As if some god has broken and cried;
Pouring grief upon the drive and lawn,
While I’m inside, safe and warm.
It is splashing, dancing, on the roof;
Of nature’s beauty, here is proof.
And the sound of water - music to my ears,
Can level mountains and smother fears.
I do not want it to ever cease;
This pitter-patter of sweet release,
Wishing it would build and sweep me away
And dissolve the world like so much clay.
And all the while, I am waiting for
A flash of blinding lightning, or
A boom of thunder to make me smile,
And to be heard for many, many a mile.
Rain is one of nature’s many cures,
And finds us here in many forms,
From the gentle rustling of the waves,
To its liquid-paths in mountains paved.
I shall never fear the falling of the rain;
This purest cleanser of woe and pain:
And this pitter-patter of sweet release
Would suit me fine to never cease.
Please tell me what you think
