A Wolf at the Door

A Wolf at the Door

It was a stormy night,
I sat in my bed,
wrapped in my covers, tight,
hearing many sounds made by my head!

Scared to death I was,
I told myself
"Have no fear,
nobody is here"

Then, I heard growls,
screams, bangs, and howls!
Under the bed
I quickly went.

A while after, all was quiet
Somehow my heart convinced me
to go and check everything out,
and so I did...

I opened the door
and there lay a white wolf,
bloody and hurt, squealing in agony.
It cried to me!

I took it in my house,
bandaged its wounds
and washed its fur.
Then, I sat and watched..

Later that night,
the Wolf was in better shape,
I gave it food and water,
then I made it a little bed.

At First we were both scared,
but then all was alright.
Ever since then,
this Wolf that came to my door
had become my best friend!

Author notes

I was rhyming at first then.. I found I was unable to write to I continued the rest.. rhyme-free.
I will be entering another poem, hopefully better than this one.

A sweet story-poem, a literal interpretation of the title , but a good one none the less. ~I like the personal, human element in this poem. Thanks for your entry in my contest and good luck!
