Outnumbered

marching into battle;
Outnumbered one-thousand to one.
We'll all fight to the death
under the blazing sun.

Let them take no prisoners
should we happen to lose.
May we all die fighting;
This is the path we choose

Push through the lines.
may no man die with his back turned.
The purpose of battle is victory
not persistance; Lesson learned.

Statistics lie.

Author notes

I suppose this poem is a bit about the mentality of a warrior. I believe it captures the warrior spirit well. I am quite a bit more aquainted with ancient war and ancient means of war, so that is mostly what this is about. I figured that if everyone else is going to write about modern war i better put in my two cents. Ha.

    Lol, great job, my favorite part was the ending. It gave it a little spice. (and everything nice) Wonderful outlook, and good idea. rock on.

    i must agree with you. this is quite different in that it is about ancient warfare and summarizes the warrior spirit and a poem that actually glorifies war. it wasn't really what i was looking for, but still, it breaks no rules.

    good poem you have here. the last line was a bit enigmatic. can you comment on that? it seems to suggest that even if you lose and have lost all, you can still save your honour by giving up your life. bit i'm not quite sure about my interpretation.

    yes, this is one is different !!
