Marcescent

a blossom that persists,
even though its life has past,
for whatever reason,
in each and every season.

As in hollyhock, Althea,
or rose of Sharon,
growing on the plains.
to the south
where the buildings have grown tall
and the smoke constantly billows.

if he has gone there
you should prepare,
he may not return.

    Pleasent Prose!

For it is as an annual, springing forth with the dawn of each new year. This is simple and to the point. I like it. Thanks for entering the contest, and good luck!

    Much Love,
