The Final Stand of The Red Knight

I am the Red Knight bold and tall
and fierce and grim and fell
And all who see me draw back
ensnared in my silent spell
Many men I have met and slain
many have fallen to my blade
And many a battle I have seen
and overcome many a nightly raid
There is no fear that holds me
no terror by which I am bound
And no knight so worthy or strong
as can drive me to the ground
My lance in battle is steady
it does not shake or fall
And it is eager and without fear
that I hasten to the tourney call
My trophies are great and many
and I am the fearsome Red Knight
But though I be all of these things
this shall be my last fight

The Red Knight comes to the field
his banners flying free and high
And all the people standing near
cheer and quiver as he draws nigh
He takes his place upon the field
and faces his perilous dark foe
The Black Knight, clad in shade
his banner starless shadow
Then the trumpet is sounded
and the charge ordered to start
And from their separate corners
each knight swiftly departs
As they draw close I turn away
from these knights bright and shady
Afraid of what the outcome might be
for I am the Red Knight’s Lady

My Lady do not hide your eyes
the Black Knight is no more
And as I vowed to you, my love
I am yours forevermore
No man stands in our way now
to hinder our troth plighting
I have passed through fire and shade
ever since the day of my knighting
But all trials are overcome now
your father, the Black Knight is dead
And nothing stands between you and I
and our promised marriage bed
And as I promised you my dear
though I have not fallen or retreated
I retire now and always from the joust
the Red Knight undefeated

    This is so very creative. I think the idea of a Knight being represented by colors is a good idea. It shows originality good luck and good write

    When I first read this, I was taken aback by the fact that the Black Knight was the father of the Lady Faire. Was this a duel for her hand only? Or was this one to the death? How did she react afterwards? Plenty of questions and not enough space. Still a piece well done. Good luck in the contest.
