My Own Annabel Lee

while i sit here
i think about my Annabel Lee
she sits outside my door
whispering to let her in
eventually the whispering turns to crying
wanting attention
when the night is late
she has two companions
but she only wants me
she'll climb ladders
she'll jump fences
anything to get to me
just seeing her makes me as happy as possible
her tan skin with white paws
the sweetest puppy
and she's mine
she makes me smile
through the hardest times
as she lays down and goes to sleep
her body slowly rising
then falling back down
like the dreams of the world
she always helps
and is one great friend
and here she comes.
my Annabel Lee

That is very endearing and precious. Your own, "Annabel Lee". I like that, a take off from Edgar Alan Poe's love-of-his-life. I enjoyed how you desribed your adorable puppy doing anything to get to you. Now, that is true love! Thank you for entering this lovely poem in the contest. It was enjoyable reading. Best wishes to you!

    Such a good write here

What would we do without the unconditional love from our furry family members that heals our souls every day

This was interesting. I wonder if this is a personal piece or if you are speaking from Poe's view... either way it was very sad and dramatic. I truly enjoyed this. Thank you for entering and good luck.

    Very good

Very enjoyable poem that brings to my mind perhaps the most sweet and melodious poem of Poe.
