Desperately trying for the right note
The other hand curled, shaking
Around a long, lean bow
Holding tight.
A few sounds squeak from the
Smooth, wooden body
Assaulting the sensitive ears
It's wrong, it's still wrong
Try again.
Fingertips dance gently
Pressing hard on the metal wire
In just the right spot
The bow gliding smoothly over
And producing music.
Accomplishment is beauty.
Author notes
This is about a blind girl that I once knew. She learned to play the violin extremely well, and I remember watching her first lessons. The girl had her hand on the instrument, the instrument on her chin and her other hand wrapped tightly around her bow, and the teacher would put her arms around the girl and put her hands around the girl's hands, and just drag the bow across the strings. It was beautiful to watch, and much later when I heard her play on her own it was even more beautiful. I hope you enjoy my poem.

Amazing. The poem was brilliant enough, but your author's notes added to it even moreso. Marvelous, my dear. Best of luck to you in the contest you've entered

that was a very heartwarming story. to actually watch something like that had to be like watching columbus discover america at fast foreward. the title of your poem captured it better than any other 3 words could. d

Watching this was amazing and actually brought tears to my eyes, especially when she began to get better at playing. She would learn the songs by listening, and be able to play them on her violin. It was breathtaking and beautiful. Thank you so much for your comment.
