A flash of lightening
A crash of thunder
Tears falling like the artwork outside
Gentle music fills the room
The drum beat intrancing me
Calling me to the knife
I pick it up
Placing it by my wrist
Shaking from fear
Another flash and I quietly scream
Blood falling onto the floor
Why am I doing this
Pointless act of selfishness

I am so sorry that you have to go through this. I could feel all your pain and emotions. Wonderful imagery. If you ever need to talk I am here

You have just been Hood-Winked

Yes, there is a moment that every cutter knows about.. a divide, a defining moment, between thinking about the act, and the moment the knife penetrates. It's like.. one way or another, the whole world changes at that one moment in time... feeling towards things change and reality distorts. Sometimes it can be a good, relieving thing, sometimes not.
I like the way you captured that moment in this poem. And how the tone in your poem changes between the beginning and the end.
Great work, i really liked this poem, a really fitting poem for the title too. Well done, thanks for your entry and good luck. -
I like it, I see you joined the contest I entered Some Shadows Scream into!
