Role Model

Missing image
All over the world,
There are alot of young
Girls and Women who
Worry about their figures
And they don't think they
Are beautiful enough
The media is to blame for this,
Promoting celebrities
Who are size zero
This is not healthy!
We need to celebrate Real Women!
So Girls and Women, I
Am calling on you to
Get right behind me
And we can all make
Ourselves heard!
You are all unique!
You are all beautiful!
We can be our own
Role Model!

Very good piece, it was more a speech than poem in my eyes but that ok.

This was awesome. I truly admire the message in your entry. I am personally an Italian woman with curves and I'm very proud. And I have had a contest in the past for this promotion of all women are beautiful... however this really wasn't EXACTLY what I was looking for, though as I said, I adore the message, it's just not quite what I'm looking for here, thank you anyway.

Thank you for commenting on this,I was reading an article about a young girl wanting to starve herself to be a size zero, she thought she wasn't beautiful the way she was,so I decided enough was enough,I blame those celeb magazines and I wanted to do us girls and women justice, this is an important issue in my heart and I am planning on sending this to Real People,a magazine,Hazel

Oh. This a great little poem that you have pened here. I wish that the picture was a little larger thought because I couldn't see it that well. I love the very positive message that this has and that people are willing to stand up and say that it's ok to be healthy and not be too thin. I think a lot of women and girls do get confused because of the media. You did a good job of expressing that.

    Terrific

My first impression is this is great. Emotionally it is nice to have someone who doesn't think we have to be paper thin to be important to. I liked all of this and it is not awkward to read and I wouldn't change a thing about it. The title is perfect and the first line is great. the last line says it all.

    WONDERFULLY EXPRESSED!!!!

Way to go girl! Society does indeed put way to much
on how one should look, men as well as women. Ones like us who are just average should stand together and demand that we are equal to them.

I agree with this. Sadly, I've spent most of my life trying to reach a size that doesn't suit my body type. It didn't make me any healthier at all then, now, or in the long run. Your words are so true in this poem. I agree with the other comments. You need to send it in.

I completely agree! I think there are way too many people out there thriving to be a size zero and who will go to the extreme. I was shopping the other day and I held up a medim size shirt and it looked like an XS! I hope a lot of people start realizing that it's not beauty on the outside that matters, it's your inner beauty that matters

    Good Cause!

Damn straight! I've noticed that as celebrities get thinner, the general population gets fatter. Therefore, we have a lot of unhappy people. (Some who are half-starving to death for the sake of their careers and others who wish they had the willpower to starve themselves half to death).

Fantastic dedication to women.  You are right, young girls today need support and good, upstanding role models in their lives. Too many are focused on the unnecessary and the results are so very sad. Very nice job Hazel. You are a fine example.
