Don't

Is it cruel to fill a mind
With the possibilities of soaring?
That dreams are worth chasing?
Produce a pragmatic pile of possessions
Spend your time wisely
Demonstrate your committment to the cement
And try not to think too hard
About the sustenance of the breeze
How breathtaking the view from
Vertical horizons
Never take that kind of risk
For if you fly for a while
And that thing you didn't
even think about
Unmakes you
They will crawl over
Your broken corpse puzzled
At what a fool you were

I like this very much! It's a word that jumps at me too often, we tell our own mind those things to keep us from the search and cushion disappointment. But if you never try...

    Brilliant work here!

A double edge sword, isn't it? The cruelty of being made to believe you can soar versus the cruelty of being made to believe that you cannot. Well written!

    cruel as well these shackles
you would chain me to a field
    cement and concrete daiseys
tell, what harvest will I yield
    Life a breeze a melody
a dance not to be wasted
Lost would be the essence of
    were one to leave untasted
Regret and rue not that which lost
more what never tried to do
What care have I if called a fool
    If when alive....I flew

Fly high but be careful. I really like this poem. It speaks well both to society today and to the Greek story. Nicely done.

    Ah.

Good to read this again. You word crafter. Do you make reams of trees' hush and write lofty dreams on the wind, too?

I sincerely think this should've won better. I get it, and it's the side of your writing I most like.
Good luck with the nymphs. Don't leave them in your house alone too long.

In settings where all is constructed from truth that is bent, lies are common and accepted as truths. But all we have to do is take a look at events occurring around us and feelings inside ourselves to start doubting the things we were taught to be true. The conjurings of this world are just that; illusions that will fade like all else that has faded in the history of mankind. It includes the immaculate beauty that we sometimes are allowed to see in our dreams. Thank you for creating and sharing. Take care,

    Wonderful work ...

flying is for those who know how to fall landing on their feet!

So good to read you again ... and mythology is timeless ... we live it.

    Love

"Is it cruel to fill a mind
    With the possibilities of soaring?"

Sighhh...No, Scribe...it's far more cruel to clip the wings of one already in flight. The one who seeks the freedom of the sky is not a fool; perhaps it is the ones who choose to remain earthbound that should reconsider their stance. Congrats on your HM, Ben~Jammin'. Wanda
