Original artwork by Renelle Sommerville
The tower looms away far off,
An awe inspiring sight.
And blinks from high atop its peak
To warn the planes in flight.
But here as ev’ning wends its way
T’ward darkness of the night,
By slowly fading into haze
That disappears from sight,
I can but sit and watch the sun
Sink slowly in the west.
The colours of the just-past storm
Are beauty, manifest.
The orange and yellows blend with blacks
And subtle tones of grays,
Painted ‘cross my peach-hued sky,
By day star’s fading rays.
O touch me colours of the eve,
Intoxicate my soul.
Inspire me with your amber tones,
Your never ending role.
As muted evening shadows spread,
Trees stand in stark relief.
Cloud shapes changing as I watch,
Their time here cruelly brief.
But far away the blinking light
Reminds me once again,
Tomorrow dawns e’er without fail,
And naught is as it’s been.
So shine on never failing light,
As I watch from afar.
Inspired, my fevered mind delights
In this, my special star.

Your poems and artwork always meld so perfectly and this is just one superb example.
