Brownies

Melt the chocolate, the margarine too
There’s nothing easier we can do
Mix them together then let it cool
Soon the kids can take these to school

Add sugar, eggs and baking powder
Happy kids will laugh much louder
Stir in nuts and vanilla extract
All made with love and that’s a fact

Now bake it at three fifty degrees
The taste will bring them to their knees

 

 

 

 

Author notes

Basic Brownies recipe
2 (1 ounce) squares baking chocolate
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
3/4 cup sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup nuts
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Melt chocolate and margarine together. Cool.
Add sugar and chocolate mixture to eggs and beat. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together and add to chocolate mixture. Stir in nuts and vanilla extract. Pour into a greased and floured 9-inch square baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes.

    Wow!

    First time I see a recipe in verse! It's great - everything about it. I clicked on it for two reasons... curiosity: "A poem about brownies??" and because I'm very much into baking and brownies are in such demand in my family that I know them by heart!
    This was a lot of fun to read, and I love the originality and imagination that went into it.

    And another YUMMY recipe for us!! And well yeah, next to Angel Food Cakes, I would have to say that brownies are another favorite of mine. I have a recipe for some that uses Hot Coffee in them and they are to die for! SOOOOOOOO yummy!!!!!
