A Mothers Prayer

A mother sits by her sick childs bed
her feeble heart filled with dread.
Her worry strained eyes filled with tears
all alone with her only child for three lonely years
not knowing where her husband was or could be,
taking care of her baby of age three.
Now shes is sick and will not wake,
what will it do, what will it take?
she has tried everything that she possible knows
as her babys sickness constantly grows.
Finally not knowing what else to do,
she fell to her knees and said,"Lord I call upon you"
her prayer and crying echoing all around,
she gently asked,"undo the sickness which my baby is bound"
Her prayer comeing from deep inside her heart,
she asked the Lord for a brand new start.
The Lord answered this lonely mothers cry,
lifting her heart and spirits high.
She then heard a voice gently say...
"upon her brow your hand will lay,
call upon me and i surely will hear
taking her sickness away from here."
She hurridly did as she was told to do
in a humble vocie she said,"God I call upon you"
"i need your help, my child is very ill"
When her prayer was done, how happy she did feel,
she looked at her child, and her child sweetly said...
"Mommy i thought I felt God touch my head"
The mother cried and embraced her child tight
"my darling we both put up a good fight"
Both mother and child thanked God that day
for saving a life he could have taken away.

Awesome poem. I love the ending. Most people have this image of God as being malicious and delighting in the pain of His children, when in reality He is calling us to Him, begging us to love Him and serve Him with all of our lives. He is a loving, merciful Father, and I'm so glad that you portrayed this in your poem.
