Sometimes the most mundane motions bring about a major change,
Feeding the dog,
Eating a bowl of cereal…
Cornflakes with strawberries actually
Sometimes you get so blinded to the signs people give you,
To their cries for help
That epiphanies can only hit you during routine, when your guard is down
Now, I’m not talking about bright shining epiphanies where everything is clear and fixable
I’m talking about epiphanies that strike your gut with guilt covered knuckles that make you nauseous
The kind that turn cornflakes and strawberries into enemies
And make you feel blind and stupid
Epiphanies, or moments of clarity are never pretty
They just acquaint you with change,
Shed light to truths you should already know
And sometimes they can remind you of how helpless you are to fix your life
Sometimes they can highlight how badly you squandered opportunities
And show you just how stuck you really are
