Recipe for Dessert

A delectation to inspire
dullest palate, dozing tongue;
senses sweetly deftly stung
by cold vanilla citrus fire.

Enchanting spice of shriveled pod,
kumquat pulp and perfumed peel:
frozen majesties that steal
the creamsicle from retromod.

The cornucopia pizzelle
offers Heaven, iced within;
blissful taste belies the sin,
condemns me to delicious Hell.

Author notes

This is the poetic recipe for an original dessert I'm creating which may be included in an upcoming issue of Food and Wine magazine.

Ida gave me the following photo inspiration:

and I supplied Laura with the phrase "The Final Battle."

Constructive critique always welcome

    Ha ha. You definently got creative with the image. This is really good. I love your choice of words and your final line.

    You never cease to impress me.
    I thought the imagery was fantastic and the metaphor was developed well. Flowed good too.

    Good luck with getting it published in the magazine!
    And best of luck to you in the contest.
