a photograph in black and white
or white and grey;
a world of shadows and shades,
the darkness and the dust
(to which we shall return).
an angel's light,
wet wings, downcast eyes
halo glinting silver-grey
in the earth's insufficiency;
shiny, not shining
bricks of yellow,
never gold
(but they show up in black and white).
a photographer on the wrong side
blinded by the flash,
brand new technicolor fairyland
a videotape, 3, 2, 1
gravestone bearing her name
"here she lyes",
lost in the fog
maybe the clouds are falling,
maybe it's just dust.
maybe it's rain, washing the dirt from her wings.
