Color us black, color us clear,
"Footprints" are we and everywhere!
Our symbol is C, number six,
Cycle of nitrogen and astrophysics!
Surely the basis of all that's life,
See last line-- think of a strife.
Mix well with all-- forming a bond,
Find us in rock, tree, or a pond.
Hard or soft, from dust to stars,
Truth-- wanted in diamonds and cars.

Ha, I think I got it. Wow, I see why they call you "The Riddle Master." I never really thought a riddle could be considered poetry, but I guess you proved the point well. Nice job, Mr. Houston, but I doubt I'm witty enough to figure out some of your other riddles.

Thanks D.I.
But, could you please edit the answer out because it gives it away to other people who visit. People usually i.m. the answer and if they are correct, then I say Congrats, you are correct! D.I.-- thanks for playing and I challenge you to figure more of my riddles out!" Peace and Best Wishes.
