At noon when the day starts to loll,
Lithe shadows crawl across the walls
Spilling timelines of the days spent watching
Watching the sun race across the sky,
And thinking of reasons why
And thinking of reasons why not
To examine and remodel each event
Rewind and fast-forward and stop.
Speak and stand and pace the room
And wait for the dark and the gloom
And pace and throw and break and scream
Breathe in and out and in and out.
And in the nightfall when a candle is lit
Only to enjoy the flicker of its light,
The shadows dance, now, across the walls
Telling tales of the nights spent watching
Watching the globular moon in the darkness
And listening for the howl of the wind
To reassure that crying and screaming
And that throwing and breaking
Are just the start to feeling better in the morning
