We're fighting now
Will it ever end?
Will I get to go home
To see my newborn son
Or will I die
Before I get the chance?
Bombs go off
And I'm scared senseless
Where do I turn to?
To whom can I run to?
I run to God
But feel shunned
Left out
And so alone
I feel as if I am meant to die
My wife and son
Keep me alive
But the pain
Of seeing others fall
All around me
It hurts
And I cry for those
Dying
My new friends
Now gone...
Author notes
the U.S.A. is in a war of other conflicts. i can only imagine the pain our soldiers are going through and what they are thinking...

i don't think i have anything deep to comment on. the poem stands as it is and is quite straight forward. thank you for entering this contest.

Deep. Very sad and angering. Love the whole thing but the last stanza a little less.
