Shades of gray fade into the night
As clarity's light recedes with the tides
When life is lived in black and white,
Emotion extinguishes all guiding light
The idol star, it sets and hides
As shades of gray fade into night
The fear of abandon grips one tight
And two parts of one mind take warring sides
When life is lived in black and white
Desperation heightens the perplexing plight
Of a heart stretched twixt two broken divides
As shades of gray fade into night
Pain brings turmoil and anger ignites -
Sets the stage, as sense and emotion collide
When life is lived in black and white
The fire goes out and the darkness is quiet,
Confusion calms and the rage subsides,
And shades of gray fade into the night
When life is lived in black and white

I simply adore this. Your imagery is beautiful, and your personification of fear in line seven is extremely vivid. Great work.
