Against all the years
And against all fears
She has long stood lonely guard
Staring over a frozen sea
Against the winter’s cold
Once waiting for a lover gone
But now she waits no more
For he will not come, though she stands
Upon the frost-clad shore
In distant years he passed away
Falling from sunlight to shade
And where he wonders, none know
And those who know, won’t say
His sails do not grace the horizon
Of the colorless frozen sea
And there come none to see her
Still walking her lonely watch
Her eyes still fixed upon the distance
Her heart still straining towards the sea
But none will come, and none will witness
What she has come to be
No longer does her heart beat
And her longing is all washed away
She is Silky Luster and Satin opalescence
Cleansed of all hope and despair
Her heart is frozen translucence
And her blood flows no more
A lonely figure on the bluffs
She has become the gypsum maid
Standing tall, hard as stone, never to die or fade

Also, i don't know if this is quite what you were looking for in this contest, but I did my best on this poem (and its the first one i've done since high school that isn't form poetry, so you should be proud of me even if it isn't) but there you have it i guess...
