Alone, I stand upon the shore and watch,
As sailors kiss their lovers' cheeks goodbye.
I hide my head inside my heart, a notch
Where I can wipe the moisture from my eye.
It's not that I am crying, just, nearby,
That site brings memories of my old love.
I hate him now, and yet, tears blur the sky;
I send my heart out to the birds above.
I wish that I could be a mourning dove,
So white and pure, I would bring calm and peace.
Instead, I seem to wreck what tales tell of--
With me, those magic sparks of stories cease.
I do not have a love, and yet, I'm here,
And I still have a heart, and thus, a tear.

ooops, forgot the applause. My favorite all time Line: hate him now, and yet, tears blur the sky;
But I love the last line too. You guys are geniuses- and you could write such beautiful poetry with depth of character. It's simply beautiful.

wow, this express of love, mourning and loss is so natural. I have not read many sonnets where the natural expression comes through with perfect flow. This really does it. It's beautiful, and perfect.
