As I lay lifeless of breath,
concise heartbeats echo me
in stillness of her womb.
One day in September,
a labor of love struggled
us both.
she cried a mothers smile,
as I gasped, I cried too.
For four short years,
she mothered me love.
Silently,
I learned to paint pictures,
she had left in my heart.
With his childhood song
long forgotten.
A motherless son,
dreams of her lullabies
that never came whispered.
After so many years
have come
and gone by.
I yearn for love’s thumps
from a breast no-longer
caressing.
And still,
I wonder
why?
she had to leave me.
In Memory of My Mother- Louise
Author notes
Yes, 'I thought of my Mother today'
she passed away,
when I was only four.

for you. I will not even pretend to know how it must feel to have lost a mother at such a young age....so young that there are vague memories left imprinted in our hearts and minds I think.........tender and sweet fragments of something that was ours, yet we never felt as if we had it
? maybe? . I am a mom and as such I can tell you " I KNOW that even though no longer on this Earth, your mother walks beside you every day of your life [just listen for her in the song of the birds, smell her in the spring rain and feel her everytime there is a special moment in your life]fleeting moments like the wings of a butterfly---out of reach , but always around...

Yes,when we lose parents at an early age I think we often think about them like this, and wonder why this happened, what was the reason they could not be with us for longer. No matter when we lose them though, we miss and long for them again. Sentiments well expressed in these lines - easy to read and understand. Lost my dad when I was ten and my youngest brother just two days old, with four others in between us - doesn't seem to make any sense why - even though we ask ourselves that, just as you do in this poem.

wow! How sad are these words...such longing for a mothers love...I feel bad that any child, albeit you, has to go through such despair, as this, losing ones mom, for there is no greater gift than a mothers love...this touched me for, I whisper lullabies to my son every night before bed..."Dreaming of her lullabies
that never came whispered."
Best of luck!

excellent.

Touchingly sad content/subject. If a truism,I'm so sorry for your loss. Life just isn't fair sometimes. You've expressed the emptiness of fates lose well.

Thank You Lynda
I guess this poem is special to me....having only four short years of my life...still I wish for her to be with me. I've missed out on her love....as she has mine...but I know she lives inside me today.
for you doll
