We've suddenly become confused.
What are we now?
Are we the land of the free
And the home of the brave?
Or have we gone back
To the dark ages?
They talk of free speech,
Yet they want to silence us
For fear of learning the real truth.
They speak of all men being created equal,
Yet they say we don't belong
Because we're different or inferior.
They say we're the land of opportunity,
Yet the opportunities are silm and none
Because they look at the people who want them
And decide they are not worthy.
They say give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
Yet we turn a blind eye or turn them away.
They speak of helping our own community,
Yet they send our best men and women
To fight in a so called war
While we could be putting our money to better use.
So, what does all of this make us?
I guess we'll never know,
Because we've suddenly become confused.

"Suddenly become confused"
I like how you begin and end with this in mind. Well done!
