Leather Alligators

How is it that you -
A person of so little meaning
In what I consider to be
The real world of the living -
Can make me so hateful?

I've grown to learn,
Over my 23 years alive,
That most people are not worth
The space they take up,
And it's people like you.

It's people like you -
The judgemental,
The ones who know nothing
Before forming an opinion -
That make life this way.

I've grown thick,
Almost leather like,
And I snap like
A hungery 'gator.
Mean, because of you.

You are not one person.
One person couldn't do this.
You are many people,
The many that karma
Seems to have forgotten.

But I haven't forgotten -
I never will, either.
I may not fight hard,
I may not blow my top;
But I won't forget.

And I will be there
When it all comes
Crashing down on you,
When things get tough
And you grow thick.

I won't laugh,
I won't point,
I won't even say
I told you so.
No, it's not in me.

I will just walk away,
Won't turn around.
Your pleas for help
Will float on the wind,
But I won't hear them.

They can't penetrate
The leather you have made,
Or survive the 'gator's jaw.
You will know then
What you have done.

    Wow! I am very impressed with this. You are so right that too many people Judge others as a whole without even getting to know the individual person. It's like we have differences... forget you!! I hate the world has to be this way. We were meant to reach out to one another and life would be soo much better if only others understood. I guess you can tell, you have inspired me. lol Great poem!     Oh, wow. I can relate to this all to well. This could have come straight from my mind. Completely amazing. It makes your point so well. Really blew me away. That is why I'm rambling. Such strong words. Sad in a way too. Awesome job!

    I like this it's good, it's nice to read that you wouldnt laugh at someone who has hurt you when they are down. Don't worry karma comes back when one least expects it. Good write. {it's spelled "pleas" sorry}
