Baby Hair

Marilee

My sweet daughter,

It has been over twenty years now
since I saw your eyes,  appear to me
looking with wonder at your new world
peering back intently, thru a fine sheer skin

the vail you wear, to this day

You were truly...
the life we created in the deepest love
the tiny finger and toes… we grew to adore
you loved your daddy more... lol

I would carry you all around
letting you touch and glean the meaning
of the mysterious and fascinating glitter
that littered our home as treasures

Watching you smile and ponder
listening closely… to my words of wonder

you were,  so beautiful…

More than anything my darling
I remember the smell of your baby hair
Gods indescribable reminder of a new birth
a scent I treasure sweetly,  to this day

I love the smell of baby hair
do you remember...???

I will… forever

LeeL

I think I will have to have a child to understand that joy of parenting because right now all I see are whiny lil brats who poop, scream and costs lots of money. But this is a great poem. I'm sure your daughter loves you to bits and your love for her is very evident in this poem!! great job!

I still have a lock of my son's baby hair in my treasures box! Loved this dedication to your daughter so much. She does sound like an amzing young lady with a bright and wondrous future. And I believe from your words that she is still Daddy's precious gift. My son and I are still best friends after 27 years...he is the one person who understands me the best. We laugh at the same things...love the same music...and now he has brought us a little granddaughter who is like a tiny clone of his former self. So the circle really does remain unbroken. Blessings for this wonderful write Rick...I shall start my day with this one and smile more because of it!
    Blessings,
    Azlyn

I rarely mist up or get a lump in my throat, but this brought both. I love the smell of baby hair, too...

    Beautiful, for your daughter.

awww just make sure their is only one question mark at the end and like always very smooth with paitence. The scent of baby hair i think that's the most softest feeling. very different and i like the nice imagery.

You've shown all of us your light, and it is not a wonder how you could have such brilliant daughter. May her 21st year be magical as this is her 3rd seven year cycle.. (she'll know what I'm talking about) It also comes as no surprise to me that she'd be a bit complex as she again comes from you Love to her on this magical era. Love to you as always.
