Guiding Me To You

I am just standing here
Until I begin walking
My shoe laces untied
Unsure of this path
Pebbles causing me to stumble
Rocks my angry landing

Almost stripped to tears
I bend over and tie my shoe laces
Boots worn down
Covered in scuffs and mud
Soul's worn out and tired
Now my shoe laces are tight
I am praying once again

Hope fills me
I begin to walk quickly
My life full of purpose now
My heart a torrent of joy
I lift my head
Eyes expecting to meet
Endless deserted roads

But I see You
Eyes full of love

I start to run.

Author notes

So many times we think we are walking through life alone, and we forget that God is there beside us, just waiting for us to give Him our hearts.
He promises that He will always be there for us, we just need to raise our heads and see that He is waiting for us to run to Him.

this is very beautiful, although it kind of confused me as to how, when the narrator of this poem was expecting deserted roads, still had a purpose to his walk. maybe I'm just being overly critical. I like it, though. thanks for entering my contest!

oh man, this was freakin' awesome. I love the shoe/soul analogy. I love, LOVE, poetry that is just a strak expression of your experience with God. It is so moving, so humbling, so very awesome and it homours our Father. Keep writing, please never stop!
