The Rubaiyat of a Dove

Artesian wings, amidst unfastened skies,
uncovering enlightened hidden cries.
Shards of colored remnants, revealing time,
as cobalt moons, unveil steel nimbus eyes.

Shards of colored remnants, revealing time,
continuums of thought, reasons and rhyme.
New dimensions birthed, alabaster wings,
bestowing Earth with hope, of love sublime.

New dimensions birthed, alabaster wings,
a sign of peace; for all the love it brings.
Engulfing the world, this symbolic dove,
a flight of freedom, on translucent strings.

Engulfing the world, this symbolic dove,
gifts unrequited, Great Spirits above.
Look for the symbols, seek the calming prize
and listen to the messengers of love.

You come up with the most awesome poetry, Cindy. What I'd give for just a fraction of your talent.

This is such a beautiful poem, and so like you in it's openess and sincerity.

    Good luck in the contest

I love the background, too. Oh, I've been meaning to tell you, there's a small tree in our front yard which is real estate for a pair of doves and their two babies. We see their little heads peeking over the top of the nest sometimes. We watch them everyday, one parent or the other protecting their babies from the hot sun, sometimes both parents are there. They just watch us watching them. It's pretty cool

WOW! This is beautiful! Lovely imagery and real nice words symbolic of this messenger of peace. Really nice work! Wonderful alliteration and assonance. The last stanza is my favourite. Are you taking the Rubaiyat class?
