A Dear Friend of mine, who lives near,
has gone away to faraway lands,
So I regret we will not meet,
in this life we hold so dear.
I sit back here in silent retreat,
knowing he's in His Dear Father's Hands.
I sense it in his stubborn walk,
this horse of mine is being bothered by,
just a bothersome, pesky sparrow-hawk,
and his team mate that irritating fly!
a neigh and sigh in sleepy annoyance,
he raises his tail up to the sky,
and shakes his hooves with a horse's flamboyance!
To swat those pests who've gone awry!
of chilling air you can almost hear weep,
as the night mourns in silence.
drifting off from the world of wake,
is the world I knew that I can not shake.
This world is so much like my friend
nobel, fine, and still.
So many memories and talks and
many gallops still uphill
Yet friendship, warms me in the chill;
Many hills so steep I climb,
until the day I reunite with this dear
dear friend of mine.
has gone away to faraway lands,
So I regret we will not meet,
in this life we hold so dear.
I sit back here in silent retreat,

I don't think that I really got it.
The poem was a little long and drown out. Thanks for the entry though

Very powerful write. I loved the parts about the horse. A beautiful piece inspired by a great poet.

I ma thinking about maybe making this two separate poems, because I wanted the illusion of him being in the country side reminicing, but I couldn't find away to connect the horse stanza. But if I take it out and make it a separate poem, it is a fun poem in itself about a horse. What do you think?

That made me choke up. It's powerful. You really sent out alot of emotions in this. I like it! Alot! Very well written.

Brillant. I loved it. I think you did Robert frost justice.True, there are many gallops that we still have to take.We are still here and we have to continue to gallop and sprint into the future, because it is not easy. But we can remember our friend and the courses they took, it will give us comfort and help us to continue to press foward until our galloping is done.

A good poem. I like reading the magazine which it is titled "Old Reminiscense". It is about memories of childhood that people write.

So many memories and talks and
many gallops still uphill
I really love that. There are many gallops uphill in life and that's one of the best ways I've seen it described. Beautiful.

Hey Jen- thanks- I haven't really finished this poem yet. Gotta figure out how to join the two scenes with the characters in them- the man, and his horse- so the poem as a whole makes sense. I am glad you liked it though
I really really do hope you are able to do that contest- just do something- give yourself a fifteen minute time limit, and then go. Duana
