Persevering Amidst War

In all the unhappiness
Joy overflows inside of me
In this deadened world
I am kicking my legs
Fighting passiveness
I could be pulled down
Pinned with nails
In bitter injustice
But I am clashing
Defeating rage and grief

I am throwing punches
Knocking fear unconcious
Peeling off these sticky lies
Swinging my blade
Conquering agony and pain
Against weighted evil
Victory is mine as

God is my undivided strength.

Author notes

It's so easy to let ourselves get dragged down by the bad things of this world. I have felt that, and seen it around me. But how much better life is when God fills us with hope and the will and desire to fight for all the good that is in this life!

wow - excellent wording with great depth! This is a wonderful piece. I see it's been in many contests without taking a deserved trophy, and I somehow feel you haven't entered it yet into the right contest (so don't ever give up on it!) - as this would definitely stand out. But even without a trophy, it is a trophy poem all on its own and one you can be proud of.
    I can't pick a favorite line - I like them all.
thank you for this beautiful read and entry
    best wishes

This poem is in many contests. It is a positive piece on never giving up. Even when you do have God in your life, you can still get dragged down if there are too many weights on your shoulders.

Cannot imagine what it would be like without having faith; without that hope for the future. That's what keeps us going, knowing that there is something else...beyond all this.

I've been struggling with some of these same thoughts lately. It's tempting to want to withdraw from everything these days. Yours is a piece that I found very encouraging. Thank you!

Great poem. This comes at a time when I am fighting some major spiritual battles and am just realizing I must take on the warrior role. "I am throwing punches/Knocking fear unconcious" is where I need to be.

Thank you for posting this poem. Please keep me in prayer.

    Love and hugs -joanne

I'm not big on religion ...

in this kind of contest, or any other for that matter, but this seems to work fairly well the way it is.

Thanks for entering and good luck in the contest.

This poem shows how much power one might find in their religion. I'm not a religious person myself, but I did enjoy this piece

“God is my undivided strength….” Oh yes…if we would always rely on God, He will provide us strength more potent than the temptations around us…and I’m sure we’ll do good in our fight if we have God on our side…thank you for sharing an uplifting write…

Indeed, it is through and with Him that I find the strength that is needed to continue my battles in life. For without Him, I'd have been lost so long ago.
Thank you for your entry and best of luck to you.
