Hedge Walker the Kitten (haiku)

Huge dog eats my food
chases away my family
treats cats like lawn toys

inspiration comes
spring leaves are my survival
I am Hedge Walker

Author notes

This is a true story, we used to have 9 cats & when our new dog decided to take us on as her family she thought the cats were lawn toys. All but one of the cats left and the remaining kitten, she learned how to walk on our hedge.

We called her Hedge Walker

You live in some kind of a world

A dog that chased cats this in normal, butone that walks on hedges is one for the book. Wait till it gets a little larger and it starts sleeping on the roof. Or even better starts trying to live in your tree. My one cat sleep in an old case and another one sleep in an old skillet and that ended up being its name hey I habe strange animals also.

      Yep!

      Dear Mac,
The poor little thing had to survive and get to the porch for food! It was hilarious to see her paws wiggle each in a different direction.
Thanks for the reading & wonderful comment! I like sharing memories!

I love the pet-play going on in this haiku-chain, Tang. When in VA we had two dogs and five cats. The little dog, a little white Maltese about the size of a cat himself but chubbier, was swiped on the nose and chased out of his brand-new dog-bed because one of the cats wanted to have her kittens there. Someday Hedge-Walker will not be so dog-intimidated I'm sure!

Your haiku brought back a lot of those memories and was lots of fun to read. Thank you for this entry to the contest!

      Thanks for enjoying!

      Dear NoWayJo,
Yep! Our animal friends are full of joy and laughter - and especially for my son who is becoming quite the finder of wild life. Many good memories and plenty more to come!

I could just picture that kitten skitting along the edge of a hedge to avoid the dog. We have one here that walks the fence top like it's a balance beam. She thinks she's staying away from the woodland critters, forgetting that they can also walk the fence.

Good luck in the contest hun

      Yep! Kitten Acrobats!

So glad that they have nine lives too! Our kitten also wormed her way into the house too, and of course then the dog wanted in! But the toads are out for sure!
Thanks for reading and enjoying my haiku story!

Not the Dog - The CAT!

Sorry for the confusion - our little kitty cat learned how to walk on the hedge.
Our dog hurts my feet when she walkes on them I can't imagine her even jumping up on the hedge!

But the kitten was funny to watch!

I think I should go back to bed!

I am totally ditzy today and it's a good thing I am only sitting here because I could do a lot more damage if I were out on the highway. Yes, I re-read your poem and oh my gosh, what's the matter with me, anyway... and think of a dog walking on a hedge. hahahahahaha! Even a cat is very strange. !

          It was a good chuckle!

My son & I were composing this one! And we tried to fix the Title so that it was a bit more clear!
          Thanks for the read!
