Midigrams of Suicide

Fire crackers jump at the boredom
Cuddle you back to health with sparks of anticipation
But, Treat with care they are your friend

Like any foolish faithful companion
Manipulate and twist them to your will
But, Wrap your hands around one at your death

The horrifying laughter will kill you
In a group your friends become enemies
Attacking rather than defending you

Too many friends scale you from invincible to fragile
Like misinformed fools they will implode
Implode on you

An angry mob ravishing your senses
Sneaky
Bringing you to your knees

The only way friends can, with notions of love
Attacking your fading body
Like a cheerful gardener, they are merciless

Caressing then plucking the dying
Into the fiery darkness
Knowing smile first

Friendly Pill

Author notes

This poem is about what it is like to take too many pills in the hope of committing suicide. First of all they heal the pain and then they rip through your inside, I tried to relate the feelings of pain like that of having a fir cracker in a closed hand, the joy that it can bring by making you happy at its beautiful sight but also the anguish if you wrapped your hands round one intentional or not. This poem was inspired by my constant struggle to end my life. I became completely reliant on aspirins to ease the pain of regular headaches. I’ve tried to kill myself through taking pills a couple of times, the first time I must have taken too many and I was sick which really made me feel like a failure and want to do it properly the next time. So the next time I took a few less and was rushed to hospital to get my stomach pumped which was a horrendous experience. Anyway that’s the background behind this poem.

love happens once in a lifetime. the difference lies in how many time you're willing to live in the time that you're alive

option 11-giving up on me

thanks for entering. I'll tell you flat out that suicide is NOT one of the subjects in this contest....though apparently most think it is. Not to be cruel, while I like the poem, since its out of subject you'll not make the finalists, sorry.

I loved the lines about too many friends... because oh the truth to be found in that statement. I've never seen it addressed in poetry (or any written form), so was thrilled to see it here. Thank you for entering. This was creative and original, and the language used was wonderful.
