Mask

Inside me
Beneath the scars
Inside the darkness
Behind this mask

That’s what no one can ever see
The simple light that shines in this empty hole
For far too long I’ve dwelled here
I have long forgotten the warmth of love
What it’s like to show love
What it’s like to take a chance

I’m empty, torn apart and rejected
Forced by myself to hide in this hell
I see a love waiting to be unleashed
But when you look at me, what do you see

A freak, a shell, never ending darkness
All because of my past secrets
I wish someone could see through that
And realize this mask isn’t me

Author notes

i have finally come to eccept that i need to take off my mask and be not afraid to show myself to everyone. no matter what they think of me.

tell me what you think about my poem... and if you have any thoughts...
