The Dancer and the Musician

I dance for you,
O lover true
To the steady drum
Of your guitar strum.

Above on the rock, you are seated
Knee bent, heel tapping
My eyes on your fingers
Staccato pizzicato.

As the beat reaches out for crescendo
My feet move ever closer
Till we're face-to-face and then
Arête.

And in this night, by firelight
As though poised in flight
I wait, breath held, brow glistening, heart beating.

Wide eyed in wonder I glance at you
Your eyes on my feet,
A smile playing on your lips.

As our eyes lock,
You play a smile for me
Me dancing, you playing.

Please tell me what you think
