I heard a rustle in the undergrowth
felt thunder in the ground,
my eyes fixed on the corner
as the monster came around.
As far as I could see
he was heading my way,
I hope he hasn't seen me
or this could be my last day.
I got back home but I could see
he's heading for my house,
and then I laughed,it's just a cat
but forgot that I'm a mouse.

My kids love Tom and Jerry.
This one made me smile. My daughter named her pet mouse, Jerry. Thankfully, we don't have a cat at the moment. Well done with the rhyme and rhythm to this little gem. Congratulations on all of the trophies!

My only real critique to this poem would be that you confuse your tenses .. in the last stanza, you have the mouse moving in past tense, and the cat in present tense .. it's pretty confusing! This is absolutely adorable, and made me smile! Thanks for entering the contest!

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but Tom and Jerry aren't Disney characters. They're cartoons from Hanna-Barbera. It was a great write though!

teehehe i loved how this really embodied the cartoon. especially the last line because Jerry ( i think is the mouse) is always acting very brave, but he never realizes hes the mouse.
