There once was a land
Where the fireflies grow
And the fire flower blooms
In the midst of the snow,
Where daffodils shine
At the end of the day
Where two fairies dwelled
Named Ruby and Jay.
Now Ruby and Jay
Were very best friends.
On holidays
Gifts to each other they'd send.
They fly high in the sky.
They run fast on the ground.
They sing and they joke.
And they dance round and round.
When they were younger
They laughed at each other.
The village thought they
Were sister and brother.
But they were maturing -
They reached age thirteen,
And Ruby was looking
At Jay differently.
She had fallen in love
With Jay, her best friend!
She thought, 'If I tell him,
Our friendship might end!
I don't want that to happen,
I've known him so long!
I'm not going to tell him.
It would make things all wrong!'
So she hid and eschewed from him
And he wondered why
This behavior had come
Randomly from the sky.
Jay appeared at the house
In a toadstool was carved,
And he called Ruby's name
From the middle of the yard.
"Ruby!" he cried.
"This is Jay. Can't you see?
I'm worried about you.
Please come talk to me!"
"No! I can't!" she yelled back
As she sat down and wept.
"Why not?" he asked.
"Umm...the backyard must be swept!"
Now Jay was more confused
Than he was before,
Yet determined to see her
And talk to her more.
He climbed in through the window
And flattened his wings
As he smiled and he said,
"How's every little thing?"
That's when Ruby gave in
And proceeded to tell
Of her love for a friend
That she knew oh, so well.
When she finished her story
Jay sighed and said, "This
Is what I've always wanted."
Then he gave her a kiss.
And the fairies then knew
That they were meant to be
And their other friends cheered
And celebrated with glee
As their parents looked on
With tears in their eyes.
They smiled,
For the future they hoped for was nigh...
And now with the fairies
That sparkle and fly
As the sun hits their wings
From the bright azure skies,
Where daffodils shine
At the end of the day,
There live two young lovers
Named Ruby and Jay.
Author notes
My little cousin asked me to post this as a request, that's the only reason I'm doing this. She loves fairies, and she oved the poem. (Personally, I think it sounds like a cheap knock-off of Dr. Seuss.) Go ahead, condemn away.
Go ahead. Tell me how much it stinks.

This is very good... Doctor Seuss didn't invent this form of writing, so don't compare it with his... you did a great job on this! It sounds like it should already be in a book... good job!
