Early June - 07. For any who may be interested, 'Early June' 2006, is typed under this one.
Well, there has been sunshine, as some may tell.
By no chill icicles were we beset,
Or cold snow, that did mounting drifts, beget.
Warm weather emerged from its cowry shell,
With a, partially welcome, swelt’ry spell.
Summer, in a reconnaissance corvette,
Removed last traces of winter's regret,
And dried the old puddles, of rain, as well.
From the tops, of some haystacks, wheat stalks stick;
You've heard of: 'Make hay while the sun shines', but,
There, you see, hay made in a corny rick.
Smallish the combines that, that crop, would cut.
Early June assumes its new scenes to pick;
To ensure summer's door's open, not shut.

Seedy meadow grass is taller growing;
Pink-red hued burnet-like cinnabar are,
Quick flitting through it, though they don't flit far.
Damselflies, their true blue vests, are showing.
Green, near streams, as though those streams were throwing,
Small sleek green spikes, amongst the midge to spar.
So called 'hedge parsley's minute bloom white star,
Is many a ledge and side-row stowing.
Lots of butterflies can about be seen;
Orange tips and red admirals a few.
Ewe's maturer lambs, now quite past their wean;
Frolicking, no longer, in morning dew.
Bright ' flaming June' has warmth and sunlight keen,
The flowing river's shining sheen to woo.
