The Last Waltz
I play that same old music yet again,
and we’re waltzing, through echoes in my mind.
A harmony now jarred by words of pain.
In that summer, our dance steps intertwined.
I’m dreaming love to life, through past desire.
Just re-kindling, forbidden bursts of blue.
I think of when eyes danced, with hearts afire.
Now confusion mocks what I thought was true.
But still, that same old music’s often played
it’s telling me again, that hearts don’t lie.
Now, I watch as stars dim and softly fade.
Denying that we’ve danced our last goodbye.

I love the picture that you have chosen. It helps create the images which you have so deftly described. I love the way in which you have woven a tapestry of beauty from the word bank. It expresses the emotions of love and loss so beautifully. Well done. Good luck in the contest.

Lots of great images you have painted here with these words - good flow, very waltz like, old fashioned at that. Liked the picture that accompanies this poem too.

... Wow. Just.. wow. This is an incredible piece of heartbreak and memory, simply filled to the brim, and overflowing with emotion and touching imagery.
It's aptly named, for flows with the passion, and love of a waltz.
Good luck in the contest!!
