come
join me here in this infernal paradise of fools
where the light of the world
shines dimly within the smoky ruins
of our regrets...
and streets are festooned with streamers
and dreamers dressed in gaudy costumes
of tinctured paper
colours running
forming tinted pools beaneath their stocking feet
and paint smudges the footprints left behind
over cardboard faces in cardboard places
oh! what magic is woven here
in these streets of silhouettes and madness
of dancing harlequin smiles
so eager to please
yet
so quick to forget you
come
don't be left out in the cold
this swirling madness
this crucible of the damned
this parade of
life...

Oh, I like this quite a bit! I got a resounding feel of Mardi Gras, although I'm not sure if that was your intention. I like the way you've chosen your words, each one seems specifically used for what it can bring overall to the work.
Nicely done & thank you for your entry! -
