Loving Smiles

As I look down upon this ground before me
and see this beautiful etched tombstone,
I know that you are not down there.

Up above me, twirling around, carefree,
on the breeze of the cool wind,
your boundless spirit touches my soul.

You were a heavenly angel on earth
and you will be a divine aura evermore.

You left us with such kindness, honesty,
truth, and devotion.  Your compassion for
animals and those less fortunate, stirred
up an alliance of others to be stronger.

I lay these daisies at the foot of this stone,
yet, I know you are watching from your
place, your eternal home, your destiny.

My tears, though I try to stop them, flow
like a small stream that is crying for
freedom from its banks.

I know you are in a better place and I am sorry
for my selfishness at you not being here with me.

I rest my hand upon your headstone,
and remind you that
I love you
for all that you were
to me
and
all those who
were lucky enough to know you.

I will turn and walk away
knowing a little Azlyn fairy dust
will follow me forever.

I walk away smiling,
for having gotten
to know
you!

This wasn't an easy write !! I don't like to think things like that, but I also couldn't stop thinking about it either!!!

This is just captivating. In the first three paragraphs you're able to describe something I attempted too many times and though this is a depressing subject I love how you made it beautiful and enchanting. Especially the idea of a persons fairy dust following you after their death is wonderful.

    Powerful work, keep it coming!

Betsy, Made me think of my dad. He's been gone for 15 years and not a day goes by that I don't miss him. This is a beautiful tribute. Not an easy write for you? One would never know, your words flow into a beautiful song, as always! Hugs, Kelly

I didn't even let myself go with the mushy parts lol - but I'm a believer in death is actually a happiness and birth should be the sadness - this world is so cruel and mean at times and where we go from here is so wonderful that only the ones left are sad for the loss, but should be happy for the one who was set free. Are you okay? I love you! Betsy/DF
