I watch the world roll by,
Spinning permanently on it's axis.
Times are changing,
But some can't keep up
Children with nothing
Pleased by a simple balloon
Entrepreneurs unnecessarily annoyed
They haven't got the latest equipment
Guns shooting, maiming, killing
From debt money, children starve
Some sit in luxury
Unaware of the other situations
I was perfectly content with my life
Until I went to Nepal
I saw my families efforts
At building a small clinic
They got medals for their efforts
I only hope, I can do as much good
To try to change the world
Slow some down, catch others up
The world is spinning around
But the occupants,
are all at different speeds

Your work definitely reflects these times. This piece makes me stop and think--there really is so much to be done. I was struck by the truth of your poem's ending.
"The world is spinning around
But the occupants,
are all at different speeds"
I liked the flow from couplet to couplet.
Wonderful. Thank you for entering the contest
