We, who are branches of one tree, come sing our hymns
ways we were taught, call out to you, Our Father,
in gratitude for this life.
We flutter our words, like leafy branches
chattering to the sun that touches them.
We sigh on upswung winds
so your many angels might hear our pleas.
We take our faith by wing and send them
to you, Creator, that you might drape
your star-quilt over Hannie and Andre,
while Tasha is nursed by your handmaidens
until she knows what her destiny should hold,
in your name, Father, in your name.
Take faith of this family into account
as they wait for answers that only Tasha can give
as she sorts peace and love and heavenly needs
that has drawn her close for a time.
We wait in the shadow of this rough bark,
awaiting Divinity’s decision. While we wait,
let us hum hope, one drum heartbeat echo
away from knowing we are human,
and fraught with frailties that make us forget
Thy will, Father, Thy will, be done.
Deep beneath trunk of Tree, roots draw up
their hearts to harmonize dear prayers.
