There are...

There are shattered pieces of teeth
            spread across the floor.
A girl no older than ten years,
holds her hands to her lips-
there is blood between her fingers.

There are angry fists poised,
held above the helpless one's eyes,
Her blonde hair is matted,
her ear is hanging by a loose thread,
                    she only hears numb ringing.

There are crimson drips on steel,
a sharp blade touches her cheek.
She is holding muddled screams,
gargling from liquid iron and salivation-
her tongue is under his foot.

She regrets speaking,
          sending words to this man,
even children sometimes realize,
there is no innocence to be had,
                      there is only felt hatred.

This was intense Very intense and heart wrenching
Good poem a little too intense perhaps
I think this is a poem that not everyone should read
because of the content however it is a good poem and I loved the intenisity of it.

    astonished.

For the first time in a long time have I really felt something drastic and forthgiving to deathly ways. This can be taken in all types of symbolic terms which makes me shiver. The pain has rooted itself in my stomach and life has found a way to the tip of my tongue. This is amazingly written and definately a felt poise in positioning oneself among the shattered soul of a young girl.

    wow.

    Haunting

wow. I don't really know how I can respond. this had so much pain in it. I.. I can honestly say that I was taken by the ferocity of the words and the descriptiveness of the violence. but one could ask. what inspired this? as a human this poem almost disgusts me... the thought that something like this could take place, could be allowed to go on. it makes me sick to my stomach. but it is a poem and i see it for what it is. beautifully haunting.

"gargling from liquid iron" - pretty much will never be able to make me forget this poem.
