Do you remember when the Old Republic stretched?
Slinked through time and space
with democracy and lashings of political bureaucracy
and Jedi knights to save us from hipocrisy, greed and wealth
and the kind of power that could strip skin from flesh
and flesh from bone and still the agony
would roll on and on?
We are reduced to a ropy rebellion;
A handful of old ways to see us through these darkest days
and sabres at our growing sides, yearning to sweep and arc
as evil hides in dusty corners of the galaxy
shuddering at our forceful strides
where you and I will play at more than being heroes
or anything less than believers in balance,
that fundamental difference
between good and evil
light and dark
and everything else inbetween
still held pristine
by the force that binds us all as brothers,
sisters, enemies, friends,
and lovers.
Empires will fall in time, my friend
And the Old Republic, shall be restored again.

Option A. This is a dialogue before the Galactic Empire falls to the Rebel Alliance from the perspective of the RA
A bit hurried. ok well, I wrote it just now on the 'submit a new poem' page. But, heh, I love star wars, this was fun even though it's not a stunning example of poetry.

Hmm, you say you wrote this in the 'Submit New Poem' box? ... If that's the case, not bad. Not to tell an old family secret (family meaning me, myself, and all of my other voices), but that's normally how I write mine, so you have my congrats on that one. Let's hope that this poem turns a few heads for us, eh?
Good job and good luck!

Oh, and by the way...
Forgot to mention, you are easily the most gorgeous female I have ever heard proclaim the glory of Star Wars. Shit, you're just obscenely hot in general. Just thought I'd add that... -

I gotta say, this is the only one of the entiries in the conteset besides mine (I'm not conceited or nothing, but I DO like mine a lot or I wouldn't have bothered writing it) that I've really dug. It really captures that, "Yeah? Well fuck you" mentality of the rebel alliance, an attitude that was sorely missing from the other entries (and...y'know...The Phantom Menace). I reserve the spot of space captain for myself, but you can ride wookie-copilot shotgun any day of the week.
Oh, and just so you know, it's spelled "hypocrisy." -
this is my favorite in the contest.
i love how you address it as a question from and to a jedi-like character.
and you describe it so perfectly to put yourself *in* the movie. i suppose the first two stanzas could be worked on a bit, though.
